Francis Agrees to “Consecrate” Russia to “Mary’s Immaculate Heart”

  In the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the war which followed, Ukraine’s Latin Rite Catholic bishops wrote to the Roman pope, Francis I, asking him to consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the “Immaculate Heart of Mary”.  A Roman Catholic consecration means the person or nation so consecrated is set aside for a supposedly holy purpose.  They wrote: “we humbly ask Your Holiness to publicly perform the act of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Ukraine and Russia, as requested by the Blessed Virgin in Fatima.”  Note these words, for they are very significant, as shall be seen.
