Predestination
The biblical doctrine of Predestination is simply this: that God, from all eternity, ordained whatsoever would come to pass in his creation, from its very beginning to its very end. He foreordained all things – including who would be saved, out of the race of mankind.
In our times, professing Christians shrink from this doctrine in horror. “It cannot be!” they cry. “It’s a monstrous doctrine! A false doctrine!” Very well, then: let us consider the alternative.
If Predestination is not true; if God did not, before the foundation of the world, ordain, down to the minutest detail, whatsoever comes to pass; then what would we have? In a word – chaos. We would have a universe that operates according to its own laws. We would have a God who (if he exists at all) does not control his own creation.

The Doctrines Of Grace
Such is the state of professing Christendom today, that multitudes will not even know what we mean when we speak or write of those doctrines which, collectively, have become known as the doctrines of grace. A different system of doctrine is in vogue today: a system that exalts the will of man, the creature, and rejects the sovereign will of God, the Creator. It is an immensely popular doctrinal system, certainly; but it is, emphatically, not a scriptural system.

Merely Assenting to Election proves nothing in itself
The doctrines of sovereign grace are glorious and thoroughly scriptural doctrines. Indeed, the Gospel of the grace of God is the only true Gospel; and this Gospel tells us that man is totally depraved, utterly powerless to save himself (Rom.3:9-20); but God, from all eternity, of his free grace and mercy, elected some from every nation, and kindred, and tribe, and tongue, unto salvation in Jesus Christ (Rom.9:10-24; Eph.1:3-6); and in the fulness of time, Christ died for the elect, and for them alone (Eph.5:25; Jn.10:11,26,28); and, in God’s appointed time, each one of the elect is irresistibly drawn to Christ for salvation (Jn.6:37,44); and those thus drawn to Christ, never perish, but having been predestinated, called, and justified, they are glorified in due time (Rom.8:29,30). To be sound in doctrine, one must be well-acquainted with these scriptural doctrines.
However, merely holding to sound doctrine in the head is not enough! Having a sound theology is not an automatic guarantee of the work of regeneration!

The Tulip is not the only flower in Scripture
You will not find tulips mentioned in the Bible. But TULIP is a very useful acronym, and it stands for the five doctrines which together comprise what are known as the Doctrines of Sovereign Grace. Here are the doctrines of the TULIP:
T stands for Total Depravity;
U stands for Unconditional Election;
L stands for Limited Atonement;
I stands for Irresistible Grace;
P stands for Perseverance of the Saints.

The Duty Of All Men To Repent And Believe The Gospel
All men are depraved by nature, conceived in sin (Psa. 51:5), born dead in trespasses and sins (Eph. 2:1). There is none righteous, no, not one (Rom. 3:10); and none can earn salvation by their own works (Eph. 2:8,9). God, from all eternity, elected some (Eph. 1:3-6), from every nation under heaven (Rev. 7:9-14), to obtain salvation by Jesus Christ. Christ died for the elect, and the elect alone (Matt. 20:28; Jn. 10:11; Eph. 5:25). In his divinely appointed time, the Father draws each one of the elect to Christ his Son, by his irresistible grace (Jn. 6:37,44); and, being so drawn, each one comes, repents of his sins, and trusts in Christ alone for salvation (Jn. 6:37; Acts 13:48). And, having been saved by faith in Christ, the elect are saved eternally (Jn. 6:37; Rom. 8:29,30).
