“Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.” Psalm 45:2
These beautiful words are a prophecy about the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the King, the Messiah, and He alone is the One who is fairer than all others. The entire psalm, in fact, is all about Him. We know this because verses 6 and 7 are directly applied to Him in the New Testament, in Heb. 1:8,9. In these verses, Christ is called God.
He is the fairest among men: His human nature is incomparably fairer, more beautiful, than any other, for it was untainted by any sin; “yea, He is altogether lovely” (Song of Sol. 5:16). Grace is poured into His lips: He was given the Gospel of the grace of God to preach, and He did so in all its fulness, speaking the very words of God, for He was Himself God, and was given the Holy Spirit without measure (Jn. 3:34); and at all times gracious words proceeded out of His mouth (Lk. 4:22), speaking as no man had ever spoken before (Jn. 7:46). And as the psalmist says, God has blessed Him forever!
Well, we have always known that to many blind souls, Nelson Mandela, the former terrorist who became president of South Africa in 1994, is nothing less than a Marxist messiah. He has been praised and virtually deified by multiplied millions worldwide. Despite all he stood for, and the way he came to power, and the disaster he inflicted on once-great, once-free South Africa, he can do no wrong in the eyes of the mesmerised masses. To them, he is the greatest leader of all time, a living legend.
But never before have we seen such blasphemous praise heaped upon him, as in the Roman Catholic weekly, The Southern Cross, dated July 30 to August 5, 2008. To commemorate the occasion of Mandela’s 90th birthday, this newspaper printed a portrait of the man, and said next to it, “The celebrations continue in your 90th birthday year!” But it was the quotation from the Bible, also next to his portrait and above the words just given, and thus applied to him, which was nothing short of blasphemous. The quotation was said to be from Psalm 44, whereas in truth it was from Psalm 45. It was not from the King James Version, but doubtless from some Romish version of the Bible. This is what it said:
“You are the fairest of the children of men,
And graciousness is poured upon your lips,
Because God has blessed you for evermore.”
There can be no mistaking the meaning: this Roman Catholic newspaper was using this verse from the Bible to describe, not Christ, but Nelson Mandela! It was calling him “the fairest of men”, and saying that his words were words of graciousness, and asserting that God’s blessing rests upon him!
To take this precious prophecy of the Lord Jesus Christ, and apply it to an unrepentant terrorist, is shameless, blasphemous, and utterly vile. But this is Roman Catholicism! This is the religious system which dares to call itself a Christian Church – the one true Church, in fact – and yet its leaders are so spiritually blind that they can take what belongs to Christ, and give it to a sinful man, a man who condoned violence and terrorist atrocities, a man who brought misery to so many of his fellow men.
And if this is the kind of thing that can be said about the man, by Roman Catholic leaders, when it is nothing but his birthday, one shudders to imagine to what depths they will sink when he passes away!
