A Crime Epidemic Such as Never Before
The Only Really Good News: Support for the ANC is in a Nosedive, Say Analysts!
At last, a tiny bit of good news: an unprecedented string of scandals has led to a haemorrhaging of support for the ruling African National Congress, according to analysts.
Remember when, a few years ago, Nelson Mandela spoke of the government of Thabo Mbeki as the best in the history of South Africa? And now we have President Mbeki, on the 13th January at the ANC’s birthday celebrations, having the gall to speak about the ANC’s struggle against corruption, and the debilitating effect that the abuse of party membership to gain access to resources could have on it! Far from being the most moral or upright or competent or incorruptible governing party in the history of the country, the ANC is literally riddled with corruption and a host of other crimes! Never in the history of this country has there been a governing party so shamelessly corrupt, so stuffed with criminals of every type! In just thirteen years of power, the ANC has set a record as the most criminal, corrupt, and incompetent government in South Africa’s history. Never, under white rule, was corruption even close to what it is under the ANC. Never, under white rule, were so many politicians convicted of serious crimes as they have been under ANC rule.
Think back: there was Allan Boesak, leading ecclesiastical light in the ANC, a “liberation theologian” and fiery preacher, who, after the ANC came to power, was convicted and sent to prison – for a time – for siphoning off party funds. There was Winnie Mandela, ex-wife of Nelson himself, proclaimed as “the Mother of the Nation” by the black masses, in and out of court for this, that, and the next thing, and convicted of fraud. And in more recent times, there was Tony Yengeni, the ANC’s chief whip, being sent to prison for fraud, and serving just a fraction of his sentence. And who can forget Deputy President Jacob Zuma himself, a married man whose shenanigans with a young woman and in alleged shady deals saw him in court on a rape charge for many long weeks (he was acquitted but admitted to sleeping with the woman), and who is not out of the woods yet as he faces another trial on corruption charges. It never ends! The news in SA is dominated, day after dreary day, by the goings-on of high-ranking ANC politicians, and their court appearances. And always, the denials.
The rot within the ANC is so vast, so widespread, that even many within its own ranks are at last acknowledging it. In the words of the ANC Secretary-General, Kgalema Motlanthe, “This rot is across the board. It’s not confined to any level or any area of the country. Almost every project is conceived because it offers opportunities for certain people to make money.”[4] ANC politicians are, quite simply, in it for the money, not for public service. This was stated categorically by the ANC’s official spokesman, some time ago, when he said, “I didn’t struggle [i.e. go into the armed struggle; the revolution] to be poor.”
Well, at last, support for the ANC is beginning to drop. Not (let it be well understood) sufficiently for this monstrous terrorist organisation to lose power to another party for many, many years yet! But at least it has started. For far too many years, the black masses, largely illiterate and always fed with propaganda, blindly supported the ANC because they perceived it to be the “liberation party”, which had overthrown white rule. They voted emotionally. But the wheels had to start coming off, especially as those same masses saw their revered leaders acting like pigs at the trough, having no one’s interests at heart but their own personal enrichment.
The string of scandals is causing ANC support to nosedive, according to analysts. This was inevitable, and it is a very good thing. As the years go by, support for this terrorist organisation will, slowly but surely, continue to lessen. Of course, the ANC has entrenched itself in power and isn’t going anywhere for many years, perhaps even decades. But it will increasingly have only one option to cling to power: a dictatorship. This is always the way with terrorist organisations that have come to power in Africa: most notably of course, in recent times, ZANU-PF in Zimbabwe.
May the Lord, who rules over heaven and earth, be pleased to rid the country of this wicked organisation sooner rather than later! May the eyes of the masses be opened!
