The Zimbabwe Ruins
Weep; and if you are a true Christian, who loves the Lord and His people, pray. Pray for all true believers in this wasteland that was once-blessed Rhodesia. There will be brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering in this land. People with whom you will oneday sit down at the marriage supper of the Lamb will be going to bed hungry tonight. They are suffering in ways which you cannot even imagine. You may not know them personally, but what does the Bible say? “And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it” (1 Cor.12:26); “weep with them that weep” (Rom.12:15). Tonight, when you curl up in your warm bed, with a full stomach, there are brethren in the Lord in Zimbabwe who are weeping, suffering, starving, dying. You may not know them, you may not be able to physically send them anything (although if by any means it is in your power to do something to relieve their distress, do it!), but one thing you most certainly can do: pray. Pray for the faithful remnant in Zimbabwe! Our God is a prayer-answering God.
And finally: unless the Lord prevents, where Zimbabwe is today is where South Africa will be, in five years’ time, or ten, or fifteen. Let none be deceived on this point: it is not different here in South Africa. Zimbabwe is a Marxist country, South Africa is a Marxist country. We are following the same pattern, only we are doing it a whole lost faster.
